COE hosted a Dean's luncheon during the ADEA Annual Session held in Orlando, Florida, March 10, 2006. Dr. Eugene Roberts, from Indiana University addressed the issues of increasing Graduate Clinic income through clinical efficiency in a Department of Orthodontics. The 2006 Daniel Subtelny Education Leadership Conference was held on Friday, May 5th, 2006 in Las, Vegas, Nevada, in conjunction with the AAO Annual Session. This conference focused on evidence-based dentistry. The 2006 Annual Session of the ADA: Dr. Buzz Behrents will be representing the AAO in presenting a half-day program "What can go wrong with orthodontic treatment."
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Ohio State and the University of Louisville are participating in a pilot program using the Internet 2 in order to facilitate the sharing of faculty resources. Experiences with the program model will be reported to the House of Delegates in spring 2006.
COE is researching the possibility of developing a craniofacial anomalies fellowship. The ABO will begin giving computerized written examinations at Pearson Centers nationwide. A sub-committee for the ABO Phase II Exam is exploring the use of the ABO Phase II exam as the standardized exit examination for orthodontic programs. COE's next meeting will take place on October 21, 2006, in St. Louis, Missouri.
