SWSO President's Message
Dr. Vann Greer
Those who attended the meeting in Kansas City enjoyed several business oriented speakers and some really great food. The opening reception was sponsored by Stillwater National Bank and 3M sponsored the Saturday night social event at the Jazz Museum. Our thanks to these sponsors.
Dr. Steve Robirds was elected secretary-treasurer and the Board continues to revise the Bylaws to comply with the AAO House of delegate's decision to phase out the associate member category by December 2008.
We were able to present money to the orthodontic departments for faculty development and the competitive educators research award. This program is in its fifth year and very much appreciated by the orthodontic departments and faculty.
The Board voted to discontinue the distribution of printed Newsletters to the general membership. Two editions of the Newsletter will be published electronically and any member wishing a printed copy can contact Judy Salisbury.
SWSO was well represented at the AAO Leadership/Governmental Affairs conference in Washington D.C. with several Board members, our Executive Director and Key Contact members in attendance.
We are anticipating a great meeting in September in San Antonio. Ron Tietz, local arrangements chair and his band of merry men and women are working hard to insure that his three way meeting with GLAO and MSO will be something to remember. We have a variety of speakers for doctors and two days of staff lectures.
The Saturday night social event will be a great party at the Buckhorn Saloon. Bring your walking shoes or your water wings to ride on the canal boats or walk on the River Walk. Reserve these dates: September 27-30, 2007. See you all there!!
